goldmedalHistory and Purpose

The Tennessee Senior Olympics began in 1981 with a mission that has continued for over 25 years: to promote healthy lifestyles for senior adults through fitness, sports and an active involvement in life. The Senior Olympics encourages olderadults to stay active, and gives them a reason to renew past skills or learn new ones.

Key Goals

  • Maintain and improve the health and wellness of Tennessee's seniors
  • Provide a competitive athletic, recreational and creative experience for seniors
  • Provide an opportunity for fellowship for seniors from across the state

Track2smallThe Road to State Finals Starts at District Competition

Every year, thousands of senior adults compete in sanctioned district games held across the state. The top fourfinalists are eligible to advance to the State Senior Olympics held in July of each year.

Please note:   Out of State Competitor Rule

Tennessee is a closed state.   Tennessee border state competitors (no more than 30 miles from Tennessee) may compete in the Tennessee Senior Olympics.
